Lunch Pot

I read in the college catalog that a main goal of the ceramics department is to produce functional pottery. I think that this piece would have made a nice little lunch container before the days of refrigeration. The clay would help to keep the food cold in the morning and the whole thing could be placed in a fire or near a furnace, boiler or other heat producing item to warm the contents. The knob on the lid (I made this one all by myself) is recessed so it can be stacked. The glazing is very consistent on the inside so it would be easy to clean. Very functional indeed.
